What Is Hydro Jetting?

Hydro jetting is high-pressure water cleaning for drain and sewer lines: a specialized nozzle travels through the pipe while jets of water at thousands of PSI scour the full inside wall, removing grease, sludge, scale, and invading roots rather than punching a hole through them the way a cable machine does. The debris washes downstream and out of the line, leaving open pipe instead of a narrowed one.

That difference is why jetted lines stay clear for years while cabled lines often clog again in months. A cable restores flow through the blockage; jetting restores the pipe. For grease-heavy kitchen lines, aging mains, and clogs that keep returning, it's the fix that actually ends the cycle, which is why we built our drain division around it.

When Is Hydro Jetting the Right Call?

Grease-coated kitchen lines

The most common jetting job, years of cooking grease narrowing the line until nothing a cable does lasts.

Root intrusion (camera-confirmed)

Root-cutting nozzles clear the growth, and the camera shows whether the joint needs repair to keep them out.

Maintenance before the emergency

Scheduled jetting for lines with a history, restaurants, rentals, and homes that have flooded once already.

Clogs that keep coming back

Repeat clogs mean the pipe wall is the problem,  jetting removes what the cable kept drilling through.

Scale and sediment buildup

Decades of mineral deposits in older lines, common in Miami Valley hard-water homes, scoured back to pipe.

Before sewer repairs or lining

A clean pipe is required for proper inspection and any repair work, jetting is step one of doing it right.

When Jetting Is the Wrong Answer

We'd rather tell you no than sell you pressure.

A first-time hair clog in a bathroom drain doesn't need a jetter: a cable clears it for less, and we'll say so. And on badly deteriorated pipe, collapsing clay, rotted cast iron horizontals, high-pressure water can finish what age started. That's exactly why the camera goes in first: it tells us whether your line needs jetting, can safely take jetting, or needs something else entirely.

If a company quotes you jetting without looking inside the pipe, they're guessing with your money. We don't guess: we camera, footage shown to you, then the recommendation: cable, jet, or repair.

How a Jetting Visit Works

Camera in first

We inspect the main line & secondary branches and show you what's in it: the condition of the pipe decides everything that follows.

Camera verify

A second pass proves the result: you see bare pipe, not just a drain that swallows water today.

Price approved

You see the footage, you see the price, you decide. Before any equipment starts.

The honest prognosis

If the camera found damage jetting can't fix: a belly, a crack, chronic roots. You'll see it and get the straight options. No surprises later.

Jet the line

The right nozzle for the job: penetrating, flushing, or root-cutting. Works the full run, scouring wall and washing debris out.

Why Book Your Jetting With Top Notch

Camera before and after

You see the problem before you pay and the clean pipe after. That's the standard, not an add-on. Assumes pipe not full of water.

Jetting only when it's the answer

Simple clog? We'll cable it and charge you less. The recommendation follows the footage, not the invoice.

Backed by licensed plumbers

When the camera finds a broken line behind the buildup, the company already on site is the one licensed to fix it.

Maintenance programs, residential and commercial

Lines with a history get a schedule, not a next emergency — including grease-line programs for restaurants and property managers.
